Wedding Dress Shopping FAQ’s & Tips

Wedding Dress Shopping FAQ’s

Finding your dream wedding dress is very exciting but as with any new experience it can also be a bit confusing!
Below you’ll find our most frequently asked questions.

1. When shall I start dress shopping ? I always say to my brides, allow at least a year for dress shopping. Lead times on dresses from some designers can be up to six months, then we need to allow a further 8-12 weeks for fittings & alterations. Allow yourself plenty of time to ensure you feel relaxed & not stressed in the lead up to your big day.

2. How many people can I bring to my appointment? At Nicole Mae’s Bridal we can comfortably seat four guests. We understand that some brides would like to bring more guests and we can make arrangements for this with extra seating if needs be. We would encourage you to bring the selected people who you trust & who are going to be supportive in your decision.

3. Are all your dresses on the website? Most of the dresses are on the website =, however not all. We like to keep some back for a surprise for brides on their appointments.

4. How long is my bridal consultation appointment? Bridal consultations at Nicole Mae’s Bridal are 90 minutes long.

5. What is the price point of your dresses ? New dresses start at £1200 and go up to just over £5000

Your wedding gown is ordered in a standard size closest to your measurements and then any alterations that are needed are charged as extra at your first fitting. The cost varies depending upon the extent and nature of the alterations required. Alterations are not included in the price of your wedding gown.

8. Do I need to bring anything along with me to my appointment? Comfortable nude or pale coloured underwear. Everything else you need such as shoes and accessories are all in the boutique. We do ask that you wear no fake tan & keep make up to a minimum in order to help protect the dresses.

9. What is a ‘ Trunk Show’ ? A trunk show is when a bridal salon has a more complete or full range of gown samples on hand from a specific bridal designer.

10. What sizes do you stock? The majority of our dresses in stock range from UK size 8-14, with some size 16’s. We can order some dresses size a 18 for any brides who request for their appointments.

Wedding Dress Shopping Hints & tips

1. Start shopping when you are actually ready to say ‘YES’ to your dress! You do not want to start shopping too early & fall in love with a dress then feel it is too soon to say yes.

2. Listen to your Bridal Consultant and keep an open mind , it is totally normal to fall in love with a dress you never would have imagined.

3. Do your research & take a look at the designers in stock in the boutique. Call ahead & ask if there is a specific dress you have in mind you would like to try from a chosen designer.
